porsche 911
Posted in Porsche on August 8th, 2010 by adminYou may remember we told you that an electric Porsche was being developed by RUF. Initially, we thought this Germany company specializing in tuning Porsche cars was working on a Cayman, but this wasn’t the case. After all that waiting, the company finally revealed this ground-breaking model today.
This car is only a concept at this point, but we are sure you’d like to know more about the features. Well, the electric Porsche 911 has an electric engine (of course!) that can generate up to 204 horsepower and can reach speeds of 100 km per hour in under 7 seconds. Add to that torque of 650 Nm and you’ve got an electric car to be reckoned with.
There is always a downside however, and the battery needed to run this car is almost 550 kilograms, comprising 96 cells which weigh 5.6 kilograms each. This is still a huge development compared to other electric cars and it was developed by Axeon, which produces lithium-ion batteries.
According to the manufacturer, one battery cell generates 160 amps per hour which allows the 1,900 kilogram car to reach top speeds of 224 kilometers an hour. With normal driving, the car should range between 250 and 300 kilometers.
