In a low-profile event, Ferrari unveiled the F60 at the its Maranello base, leading the F1 racecar launches for 2009. The F60 nomenclature is derived from the only Ferrari brand to have run all 60 seasons and has nothing to do with a famous supercar ten years ago with which it shares its name.

F1’s regulations 2009 forced the F60 comes to have a taller and narrower rear wing and a lower and wider front wing. These changes in the car’s aerodynamics cut down on the downforce, but the driver can make minor front-wing alterations from the cockpit itself. Slicker tires and the optional Kinetic Energy Recovery System (KERS) will adorn the F60. Ferrari’s KERS, developed in collaboration with Magneti Marelli, is mounted at the center of the engine under the rear of the chassis. An RPM reduction of 1000 revs (19k to 18k), a 7-speed gearbox and an altered Type 056 V8 engine that needs to last at least 3 full races going by the new F1 norms.
