The new car will share the R-D6 concept’s front end, with coupe-like lines to effect a profile change to the S-Type .
The next S-Type, expected to be derived from a shortened XJ-Type chassis, which is primarily aluminum, the S-Type will apparently continue to use the DEW98 platform until a redesign around the premium version of the C1 platform is complete. However, the the 2008 S-Type would still have an aluminium skin. In a policy shift towards lower volume-high profit production, Jaguar is expected to trash the X-type after 2008. The Jaguar highly esteems the highly profitable methods of Porsche.
