According to Porsche, there is no way the Nissan GT-R could achieve this time and to support this statement, the company raced a standard Nissan of the same model at the racetrack. The results backed Porsche’s accusation when the GT-R clocked a lap-time of 25 seconds above the time claimed by Nissan.
Nissan responded to this by refusing to be drawn into an ongoing debate with Porsche. Neil Reeve, spokesperson for Nissan Europe, reiterated the company’s claim. According to Reeve the original lap-time of 7 minutes, 29 seconds was achieved using regular Dunlop tires. These are the standard issue tires used in showroom models.
