Posted in Bentley on June 19th, 2009 by adminThe next Bentley Arnage, scheduled to be rolled out in 2010, is definitely not going to be the Continental Flying Spur’s big-sized cousin. Thus it clearly won’t be a 3/4th Flying Spur with a GT tail. The Arnage presently boasts of sales of around 600 – 800 units per annum, despite being kind of a Grand-daddy in the automobile industry, going by the rate at which car models and brands are getting replaced. The Rolls-Royce Phantom doesn’t have much above these figures, despite being relatively new in the US car market.
Audi’s spaceframe technology, which was quite a headstart in the range is bound to get equalized by similar incorporations across the class, and the next Arnage will definitely make up for it. The 2010 Arnage is going to be around 150-kg lighter than its erstwhile model, thus ensuring with the improved mileage that rising gasoline prices won’t stop you from having one, if you have enough bucks to buy a Bentley in the first place.
The range of engines for the new Arnage would still be limited to gasoline. Bentley is absolutely sure that a diesel engine in one of their cars has no market, and they are not going to try and create one.† Things could take an interesting shape, provided it somehow makes intelligent use of the Veyron’s quad-turbo W16, thus creating a gem of a Bentley.
